COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Data Analytics consists of 72 credit points and is designed to give students a strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, programming and data handling, along with opportunities to specialise through majors and electives. The core component includes 21 credit points of essential units such as Python Programming for Everyone, Fundamentals of Mathematics, Statistical Data Analysis, Big Data and Data Science, Applied Statistics, Databases and Introduction to ICT Research Methods. Students then complete a 24-credit-point major, choosing from Data Science, FinTech or Business Intelligence. A 3-credit-point Discovery unit allows students to explore an area outside their major. The remaining 24 credit points are made up of options, giving students the flexibility to add a second major, select a minor or choose general electives. Additional majors available include Data Science, FinTech, Business Intelligence, Business Information Systems or Cyber Security and Forensics, although Cyber Security and Forensics requires students to take additional prerequisite units and can only be paired with Data Science or FinTech. Students interested in qualifying for the FinTech Professional credential can complete the FinTech major along with the Information and Systems Security minor. Other recommended minors include Games Development and Web Development. General electives can be selected from across the university to complete the total required credit points. This flexible structure allows students to tailor their studies toward areas of interest or industry demand while building strong analytical and technical competencies.
