COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Criminology and Bachelor of Forensic Science combines the study of crime, justice and human behaviour with scientific approaches to investigation, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of modern criminal justice and forensic practices. The course begins with core criminology units that explore crime in context, policing and crime prevention, technology and justice, and the influence of culture and diversity on crime. Students also develop scientific foundations through studies in human biology, medical, molecular and forensic sciences, cell biology, chemistry, forensic science techniques and statistical analysis. The degree allows students to specialise through a Criminology major in areas such as Criminal Behaviour, Crime Science or Legal Studies, alongside a Forensic Biology major that develops expertise in evidence analysis and biological investigation. Through this combination, students gain skills in understanding offender behaviour, analysing crime scenes, interpreting forensic evidence and applying scientific methods to criminal investigations. Discovery study and general electives provide opportunities to expand knowledge in additional areas of interest. Graduates are prepared for careers across criminology, forensic science, law enforcement, government agencies, research organisations and community services, with potential roles including criminologist, forensic investigator, laboratory analyst, crime prevention officer, policy officer or justice professional.
