COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Business at Murdoch University is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in business principles while allowing flexibility to specialise in a particular area or pursue broader knowledge across multiple disciplines. The course is structured to combine core business knowledge, major-specific studies, and options that can include minors, co-majors, or general electives, enabling students to tailor their degree to their interests and career goals.The course core consists of 15 credit points, covering fundamental business concepts such as business law, management, marketing, accounting, and economics. These units provide students with essential analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills that form the basis for success in a business environment. In addition to the core, students complete 24 credit points in their chosen major, with options including Accounting, Banking, Business Law, Finance, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Human Resources Management, Management, Marketing, International Business, and Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Certain accredited majors, such as Accounting and Human Resources Management (AHRI accredited), have a slightly adjusted structure to ensure professional requirements are met.Students also engage in discovery studies, recommended at three credit points, to develop broader perspectives and research skills. The remaining 30 credit points are completed through options, which may include an additional major, co-majors, minors, or general electives, depending on the student’s chosen path. Some majors, such as FinTech, require prerequisite studies like Statistical Data Analysis or Discrete Mathematics and Logic. Students can also choose to include Indigenous Knowledges and Practices as part of their studies, enriching their understanding of diverse perspectives in business.This flexible structure allows students to gain both specialised knowledge and a broad understanding of the business world. Graduates are well-prepared for a range of careers in accounting, finance, marketing, management, human resources, banking, entrepreneurship, and consulting, with options to pursue professional accreditation or further postgraduate study. The combination of core business skills, major-specific expertise, and tailored electives ensures students leave the program with a comprehensive and adaptable skill set for the modern global business environment.
