COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Public Health (Health Economics specialisation) requires completion of 96 credit points structured across Discipline studies, Foundation studies, Specialist core studies, and Specialist elective studies. Part A, Discipline studies (24 credit points), provides a broad introduction to public health, covering key concepts such as population health, health systems, and the social, environmental, and economic determinants of health. This component establishes a strong contextual understanding of how health systems operate and how policy influences health outcomes. Part B, Foundation studies (24 credit points), builds essential quantitative and analytical skills through training in epidemiology, biostatistics, and research methods, which are critical for advanced study in health economics. Part C, Specialist core studies (30 credit points), focuses on core health economics knowledge, including economic evaluation, health care financing, resource allocation, and policy analysis. This component develops the ability to assess efficiency, equity, and effectiveness within health systems using economic frameworks and evidence-based approaches. Part D, Specialist elective studies (18 credit points), allows students to tailor their learning to specific interests such as advanced economic modelling, global health policy, or applied health research.
