COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Public Health (Global and Planetary Health stream) requires completion of 96 credit points structured across Discipline studies, Foundation studies, Specialist core studies, and Specialist elective studies. Part A, Discipline studies (24 credit points), provides a broad introduction to public health, covering key concepts such as population health, health systems, and the social, environmental, and economic determinants of health. This component builds a strong conceptual foundation for advanced study in global health contexts. Part B, Foundation studies (24 credit points), develops core analytical and methodological skills in areas such as epidemiology, biostatistics, and research methods, equipping students with the tools needed to understand and evaluate public health data. Part C, Specialist core studies (30 credit points), focuses on global and planetary health challenges, including health issues in low- and middle-income countries, communicable and non-communicable disease prevention, health promotion, and the impact of environmental change on health. This component strengthens students’ ability to design and evaluate public health interventions in diverse and resource-limited settings. Part D, Specialist elective studies (18 credit points), allows students to tailor their studies to specific interests such as global health policy, environmental health, or advanced public health practice. Overall, this 96-credit-point structure prepares graduates to work in government, NGOs, aid organisations, and international agencies, where they can address global health inequities and contribute to sustainable improvements in population and planetary health.
