COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Electrical Engineering requires completion of 144 credit points structured across Foundation specialist studies, Core specialist studies, Elective specialist studies, Research studies, and Professional practice. For students admitted at entry level 1, the program begins with Foundation electrical engineering (48 credit points), which provides essential grounding in core engineering principles and prepares students for advanced study in the discipline. This is followed by Electrical engineering core studies (48 credit points), where students develop advanced knowledge in key areas such as signal processing, electronic circuit design, electromagnetism, antennas, real-time systems, multimedia communications, and smart grid technologies. These studies build strong technical expertise and analytical capability required for professional engineering practice. Electrical engineering electives (24 credit points) allow students to tailor their learning by selecting specialised subjects aligned with their interests and career goals, supporting deeper engagement in specific areas of the field. Research studies (18 credit points) develop advanced analytical and investigative skills through ENG5001 Advanced Data Analytics for Engineers, ENG5005 Research Methods, and ENG5006 Research Practice, enabling students to apply research and data-driven approaches to engineering problems. The Professional practice component (6 credit points) focuses on industry readiness and professional development through ENG5100 Professional Engineer in Organisation and Society and ENG0003 Professional Engineering Continuous Professional Development. Overall, the program integrates technical knowledge, research capability, and professional skills to prepare graduates for advanced careers in electrical engineering and technology-driven industries.
