COURSE CURRICULUM

For students completing 96 credit points in the Master of Civil Engineering, the course is structured across Foundation civil engineering, Civil engineering electives, Research studies, and Professional practice. The program begins with Foundation civil engineering (48 credit points), which builds essential knowledge in core engineering principles and provides a strong base for advanced civil engineering study. Civil engineering electives (24 credit points) allow students to tailor their learning to specific interests and career goals, enabling deeper exploration of specialised areas within civil engineering practice. Research studies (18 credit points) develop advanced analytical and research capabilities through three core units: ENG5001 Advanced Data Analytics for Engineers, ENG5005 Research Methods, and ENG5006 Research Practice. These units equip students with skills in data-driven decision-making, research design, and evidence-based engineering problem solving. The Professional practice component (6 credit points) focuses on preparing students for industry engagement and professional development through ENG5100 Professional Engineer in Organisation and Society, along with ENG0003 Professional Engineering Continuous Professional Development, which supports ongoing learning and career growth. Together, these components provide a balanced and integrated education combining technical knowledge, research capability, and professional skills.
