COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Occupational Therapy Practice requires completion of 96 credit points through a comprehensive set of core studies designed to develop the knowledge, skills, and professional competencies required for entry-level occupational therapy practice. Students must complete eight compulsory units, each worth 12 credit points. The program begins with OCC4010 Foundations of Occupational Therapy, which introduces the principles, values, and scope of the profession. OCC4020 Humans as Occupational Beings explores how participation in meaningful activities influences health, wellbeing, and identity. OCC4030 Occupational Performance, Capabilities and Components focuses on understanding the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social factors that affect occupational performance. Students then progress through OCC4040 Enabling Occupation 1, OCC5050 Enabling Occupation 2, and OCC5060 Enabling Occupation 3, which develop practical skills in assessment, intervention planning, therapeutic strategies, and evidence-based practice across a range of client groups and settings. OCC5070 Transition to Practice prepares students for professional employment by strengthening clinical reasoning, professional communication, ethical decision-making, and workplace readiness. The final unit, OCC5080 Advanced Professional Practice, provides advanced clinical and professional experiences that consolidate learning and support the transition into occupational therapy careers. Together, these eight units create a structured and integrated curriculum that combines theory, practical application, and professional development to prepare graduates for competent and effective occupational therapy practice across diverse healthcare, rehabilitation, and community settings.
