COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Laws (LLM) requires completion of 96 credit points, structured across four components: Part A Foundation studies (6 credit points), Part B Core studies (42 credit points), Part C Specialist studies (30 credit points), and Part D Specified elective studies. The Foundation studies provide a brief introductory grounding in advanced legal research and academic skills, ensuring students are prepared for postgraduate-level legal study and independent inquiry. The Core studies form a central part of the program and develop advanced legal knowledge, critical analysis, and a strong understanding of contemporary legal issues, developments, and professional practice. These units strengthen students’ ability to interpret, evaluate, and apply legal principles in complex contexts. The Specialist studies component allows students to focus on a particular area of law aligned with their interests or career goals, such as commercial law, human rights, technology law, or dispute resolution, providing in-depth knowledge and expertise in that field. The Specified elective studies component offers further flexibility, enabling students to select additional units to broaden or complement their legal studies. Together, these four components create a flexible and structured learning pathway that balances foundational skills, core legal knowledge, specialisation, and elective choice.
