COURSE CURRICULUM

The course is structured in two integrated parts that build both the theoretical foundation and the practical capabilities required for professional psychology practice. Part A focuses on applied studies designed to extend your knowledge and skills in psychology across the lifespan. Through lectures, workshops and collaborative learning, you will strengthen your understanding of psychological theories, ethical practice and evidence-informed decision making. During the first year, you will undertake 200 hours of practical activities and professional experience, allowing you to apply emerging skills in real or simulated settings while receiving structured feedback. As a developing scientist-practitioner, you will critically evaluate empirical literature, explore contemporary issues in educational and developmental psychology and engage in scientific inquiry that connects research with practice. This process leads to the completion of an independent empirical investigation presented as a research thesis of 6,000 to 8,000 words, demonstrating your ability to design, conduct and communicate research that contributes to psychological knowledge. Part B comprises clinical placement studies that immerse you in professional environments where theory is translated into effective practice. Under the supervision of experienced specialist practitioners, you will work across diverse settings such as schools, community agencies, clinics and educational institutions. These placements provide opportunities to refine your assessment skills, deliver interventions, collaborate with clients and professionals, and respond ethically and sensitively to varied developmental and educational needs. Across the duration of the course, you will complete a minimum of 1000 recorded hours of supervised professional experience, ensuring you meet professional training requirements while gaining the confidence and competence needed for advanced psychological practice. Together, these two components create a comprehensive training experience that integrates academic learning, research capability and real-world professional application.
