COURSE CURRICULUM

The course is structured to provide a progressive pathway into advanced research within the field of business and economics, enabling students to develop both theoretical knowledge and practical research skills. It is divided into two main parts. Part A, core research studies, focuses on equipping students with a deep understanding of contemporary research approaches within the discipline. Through these units, students develop the skills necessary to investigate complex business and economic issues, critically analyse literature, and design and conduct rigorous research projects. Part B, advanced research studies, builds on this foundation by providing advanced theoretical and methodological training. These studies aim to prepare students for doctoral-level research, allowing them to refine their expertise and work closely with academic staff to develop specialized research skills and pursue their research aspirations. Entry into the program can vary depending on prior qualifications. Students admitted at entry level 1 are required to complete 96 credit points, covering both Part A and Part B, while those admitted at entry level 2 complete 48 credit points, comprising only Part B. Credit for prior studies may be applied, and students eligible for such credit can choose to undertake the full program to further enhance their knowledge and research capabilities. The course is structured to guide students progressively through research concepts, methodologies, and applications, with a course progression map providing detailed guidance on unit enrolment each semester. Overall, the program is designed to develop highly skilled researchers capable of contributing original insights to the field, equipping graduates for careers in academia, industry, government, or other research-intensive environments where advanced analytical and research expertise is essential.
