COURSE CURRICULUM
The Master of Advanced Engineering (Robotics Engineering) at Monash University requires the completion of 96 credit points and is designed to develop advanced technical expertise in robotics, automation, and intelligent systems, along with practical or research experience. Part A, Core Studies (24 credit points), provides a foundation in advanced engineering practice, innovation, leadership, and problem-solving skills required for complex engineering environments. Part B, Specialist Studies in Robotics Engineering (36 credit points), focuses on key areas such as robotics design, mechatronics, control systems, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computer vision. Students learn how to conceptualise, develop, and maintain intelligent robotic systems capable of sensing, decision-making, and autonomous operation. This component also explores human–robot interaction, system integration, and interface design, alongside ethical considerations and safety in robotics applications. Part C, Advanced Practice (24 credit points), requires students to complete either an Industry Experience pathway or a Master’s Thesis Research pathway. The Industry Experience option provides practical exposure through real-world engineering projects and professional placements, while the Research Thesis option allows students to undertake independent research under academic supervision and develop advanced analytical and technical expertise. Part D, Specified Elective Studies (12 credit points), offers flexibility to explore complementary areas aligned with individual interests and career goals.
