COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Advanced Engineering (Renewable Energy Engineering) at Monash University requires the completion of 96 credit points and is structured to develop advanced technical expertise, interdisciplinary understanding, and professional experience in sustainable energy systems. Part A, Core Studies (24 credit points), provides a foundation in advanced engineering practice, leadership, innovation, and problem-solving, equipping students with essential skills for complex engineering environments. Part B, Specialist Studies in Renewable Energy Engineering (36 credit points), focuses on the principles and technologies behind sustainable energy systems, including energy conversion, solar and wind power systems, energy storage, smart grids, system design, and integration of renewable sources into existing electricity infrastructure. Students also examine the environmental, economic, and policy dimensions of renewable energy deployment, gaining a holistic understanding of how sustainable energy systems are designed and managed. Part C, Advanced Practice (24 credit points), requires students to choose between an Industry Experience pathway or a Master’s Thesis Research pathway. The Industry Experience option provides real-world exposure through engineering projects and professional placements, while the Research Thesis option allows students to conduct independent, supervised research and develop advanced analytical and technical skills. Part D, Specified Elective Studies (12 credit points), offers flexibility to explore complementary topics aligned with individual career goals. Together, these components provide a comprehensive education that prepares graduates for careers in renewable energy development, power generation, energy consulting, infrastructure planning, sustainability management, and government or industry roles focused on advancing clean and efficient energy systems.
