COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Advanced Engineering (Engineering Management) at Monash University requires the completion of 96 credit points and is designed to develop both advanced engineering knowledge and professional management capabilities. Part A, Core Studies (24 credit points), provides a foundation in advanced engineering practice, leadership, innovation, and professional skills essential for managing complex technical environments. Students develop competencies in problem-solving, strategic thinking, and engineering decision-making. Part B, Specialist Studies in Engineering Management (36 credit points), focuses on leadership and business-oriented skills that complement technical expertise. Students learn project management, stakeholder engagement, organisational strategy, risk management, operations planning, team leadership, and business performance improvement. This component prepares graduates to manage engineering projects and lead multidisciplinary teams in a variety of industries. Part C, Advanced Practice (24 credit points), allows students to choose between an Industry Experience pathway or a Master’s Thesis Research pathway. The Industry Experience option provides practical exposure through real-world projects and professional placements, while the Research Thesis option enables students to conduct independent research and develop advanced analytical skills under academic supervision. Part D, Specified Elective Studies (12 credit points), offers flexibility to broaden expertise in areas aligned with individual interests and career goals.
