COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Advanced Engineering (Bioresource Engineering) at Monash University requires the completion of 96 credit points and is structured to provide advanced engineering knowledge, specialist expertise, and practical or research-based experience. Part A, Core Studies (24 credit points), establishes a foundation in advanced engineering concepts, professional practice, leadership, innovation, and problem-solving skills that are essential for modern engineering professionals. Part B, Specialist Studies (36 credit points), focuses on the Bioresource Engineering specialisation, where students develop in-depth knowledge of sustainable bioresource systems, renewable energy technologies, bioprocessing, bio-based manufacturing, resource efficiency, and environmentally responsible engineering solutions. This component equips students with the technical expertise needed to address challenges related to sustainability and the bioeconomy. Part C, Advanced Practice (24 credit points), allows students to choose between an Industry Experience pathway or a Master’s Thesis Research pathway. The Industry Experience option provides practical exposure to professional engineering environments through industry-based projects, while the Research Thesis option enables students to undertake independent research under academic supervision, developing advanced analytical and investigative skills. Part D, Specified Elective Studies (12 credit points), offers flexibility to explore complementary areas of interest and broaden professional capabilities.
