COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Music double degree at Monash University requires the completion of 192 credit points, consisting of 96 credit points in the Science component and 96 credit points in the Music component. The Science component provides students with a strong grounding in scientific disciplines such as biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, environmental science, and related fields. Through this component, students develop essential analytical and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to apply scientific methods, interpret data, and understand complex natural and physical systems. Students may also specialise in a chosen science area depending on their interests and career goals. The Music component allows students to develop advanced artistic and technical skills across areas such as performance, composition and music technology, or popular music. It also builds expertise in music theory, creativity, collaboration, and professional practice within the music industry. Together, the two components create an interdisciplinary program that explores the connections between science and music, including acoustics, sound perception, psychology of music, and audio technology. This combination enables students to apply scientific knowledge to musical creation and production while also bringing creative thinking into scientific contexts. By completing all 192 credit points, graduates gain a unique skill set that integrates technical scientific expertise with artistic expression.
