COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science Advanced – Global Challenges (Honours) at Monash University requires the completion of 192 credit points, structured across four key components that integrate core science training, specialisation, flexibility, and real-world application. Part A, Science Specified Study (78 credit points), provides the foundational scientific knowledge and advanced technical skills needed across multiple disciplines. This includes rigorous training in scientific methods, data analysis, experimental design, and discipline-based core units that build a strong academic base. Part B, Science Listed Major (48 credit points), allows students to specialise in a chosen scientific field such as biology, chemistry, environmental science, mathematics, or related areas, enabling deeper expertise and discipline-specific understanding. Part C, Free Elective Study (18 credit points), provides flexibility for students to broaden their academic experience by selecting additional science units or complementary subjects that align with their interests and career goals. Part D, Impact Through Science Project (48 credit points), is a major capstone component where students work on real-world challenges in teams under expert mentorship. This project integrates scientific knowledge with policy, business, and social perspectives to develop practical, innovative solutions to complex global issues. The combination of these four parts ensures students receive a comprehensive and applied science education.
