COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science at Monash University requires the completion of 144 credit points, structured across three key parts that provide a balance of core scientific learning, specialisation, and flexibility. Part A, Science Specified Study (48 credit points), forms the foundational component of the degree and ensures students develop essential scientific knowledge and skills. This typically includes core units that build understanding in areas such as experimental design, scientific methods, data analysis, and introductory concepts across major science disciplines. Part B, Science Listed Major (48 credit points), allows students to specialise in a chosen field of science. Students select a major from areas such as biological sciences, chemistry, physics, mathematics, environmental science, or related disciplines, depending on their interests and career goals. This component provides in-depth knowledge and advanced study within a focused scientific area. Part C, Free Elective Study (48 credit points), offers significant flexibility, enabling students to explore additional science subjects, complementary disciplines, or even units outside the science faculty. This allows for personalisation of the degree and development of broader academic and professional skills. The combination of these three components ensures a well-rounded education that integrates foundational knowledge, specialised expertise, and academic flexibility.
