COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Psychology and Bachelor of Commerce double degree at Monash University requires the completion of 192 credit points, consisting of 108 credit points in the Psychology component and 84 credit points in the Commerce component. The Psychology component provides a strong scientific foundation in the study of human behaviour, cognition, and mental processes. Students complete an accredited sequence of psychology units covering key areas such as developmental, social, cognitive, and biological psychology, along with research methods and statistical analysis. This component also includes advanced study options or discipline streams that allow students to specialise in areas such as mental health, neuroscience, or applied psychology, helping them develop deeper expertise in understanding individual and group behaviour. The Commerce component complements this by developing analytical, conceptual, and quantitative skills relevant to business and organisational decision-making. Students study areas such as economics, accounting, finance, management, and marketing, gaining an understanding of how organisations operate and how economic and business systems function in both local and global contexts. This combination equips students with strong problem-solving, critical thinking, data analysis, and communication skills. By completing all 192 credit points, graduates gain an interdisciplinary qualification that bridges psychology and business, preparing them for diverse careers in human resources, marketing, consulting, management, research, public policy, and community services, as well as providing pathways to further study in psychology or advanced business qualifications.
