COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science (Advanced) requires the completion of 192 credit points, structured across four key components that combine foundational knowledge, specialised study, applied learning, and research training. Part A, Core Studies (96 credit points), provides a strong scientific foundation in areas such as chemistry, biology, pharmacology, drug discovery, and pharmaceutical technology, giving students a comprehensive understanding of how medicines are designed, developed, and evaluated. Part B, Discipline Elective Studies (30 credit points), allows students to deepen their expertise in selected areas of pharmaceutical science, such as medicinal chemistry, biotechnology, formulation science, or industrial pharmacy, enabling them to tailor their studies to specific interests and career goals. Part C, Applied Studies (18 credit points), focuses on practical, hands-on learning experiences, including laboratory work and industry-related applications, helping students develop technical proficiency and problem-solving skills in real-world contexts. Part D, Research Project (48 credit points), is a major honours-level component that involves independent scientific investigation under expert supervision. Students design, conduct, and communicate original research, developing advanced skills in critical thinking, data analysis, and scientific writing. The combination of these four parts ensures a well-rounded and rigorous education that integrates theory, application, and research. By completing all 192 credit points, graduates are well prepared for careers in pharmaceutical research, drug development, biomedical science, and related industries, as well as for further postgraduate study or honours-level research opportunities in the pharmaceutical and life sciences sectors.
