COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Media Communication and Bachelor of Music double degree requires the completion of 192 credit points, consisting of 96 credit points in the Media Communication component and 96 credit points in the Music component. The Media Communication component provides students with a strong foundation in communication theory and practical media production skills across a range of platforms. Students study areas such as journalism, public relations, screen media, digital communication, and content creation, developing expertise in storytelling, audience engagement, and professional media practice. They gain hands-on experience in producing content for digital media, print, radio, television, film, and emerging online platforms, while also building a professional portfolio through practical projects. The Music component complements this by offering advanced training in musical theory, performance, composition, and/or music technology, depending on the chosen specialisation. Students may focus on Composition and Music Technology, Music Performance (Classical or Jazz and Improvisation), or Popular Music, allowing them to refine their artistic and technical abilities. They also engage with the historical, cultural, and creative dimensions of music, enhancing their understanding of its role in society. The combination of 96 credit points in Media Communication and 96 credit points in Music creates an interdisciplinary qualification that blends creative performance with media production skills. By completing all 192 credit points, graduates are prepared for diverse careers in media, journalism, public relations, broadcasting, digital content creation, music performance, composition, and the broader creative and entertainment industries.
