COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Politics, Philosophy and Economics double degree requires the completion of 252 credit points, consisting of 156 credit points in the Law component and 96 credit points in the Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) component. The Law component provides students with a comprehensive foundation in the Australian legal system and develops essential skills in legal reasoning, research, analysis, advocacy, and professional communication. Students study core legal areas such as constitutional law, criminal law, contract law, property law, administrative law, and legal ethics, along with opportunities to engage in specialised legal electives that deepen their understanding of legal practice and theory. The PPE component complements legal studies by offering an interdisciplinary exploration of political systems, ethical theory, and economic principles. Students examine topics such as public policy, governance, international relations, moral philosophy, political theory, and macro- and microeconomics, gaining insight into how societies function and how decisions are made at institutional and global levels. The combination of 156 credit points in Law and 96 credit points in PPE creates a well-rounded interdisciplinary qualification that integrates legal expertise with critical thinking about politics, ethics, and economics. By completing all 252 credit points, graduates develop strong analytical, research, communication, and problem-solving skills, preparing them for careers in law, government, public policy, international organisations, consulting, diplomacy, advocacy, and other roles where legal knowledge and an understanding of societal systems are essential.
