COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Global Studies double degree requires the completion of 252 credit points, comprising 156 credit points in the Law component and 96 credit points in the Global Studies component. The Law component provides students with a comprehensive foundation in the Australian legal system and develops essential skills in legal reasoning, research, analysis, advocacy, and professional communication. Students undertake core legal subjects such as constitutional law, criminal law, contract law, property law, administrative law, and legal ethics, along with opportunities to explore specialised areas of law. This training prepares students for professional legal practice and further study in law-related fields. The Global Studies component complements legal education by focusing on international issues and global perspectives. Students choose from specialisations such as international relations, international studies, cultural competence (including language studies), and human rights, allowing them to examine complex global challenges including inequality, conflict, governance, and development. The program also encourages cross-cultural understanding and international engagement through multidisciplinary learning and overseas study opportunities. The combination of 156 credit points in Law and 96 credit points in Global Studies creates an interdisciplinary qualification that integrates legal expertise with global awareness and analytical skills. By completing all 252 credit points, graduates are well prepared for careers in law, government, diplomacy, international organisations, policy development, foreign affairs, trade, defence, and the non-government sector, as well as for further postgraduate study and research in global and legal fields.
