COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Criminology double degree requires the completion of 252 credit points, structured as 156 credit points in the Law component and 96 credit points in the Criminology component. The Law component provides students with a comprehensive grounding in the Australian legal system and develops essential skills in legal reasoning, research, analysis, advocacy, and professional communication. Students study core areas such as constitutional law, criminal law, contract law, property law, administrative law, and legal ethics, while also having opportunities to engage in advanced and specialised legal subjects. This component ensures students are well prepared for professional legal practice and further legal training pathways. The Criminology component complements legal studies by focusing on the study of crime, justice systems, and social responses to crime. Students explore topics such as the causes of criminal behaviour, policing, punishment, rehabilitation, victimology, and global crime trends. They also examine how social, economic, and cultural factors influence crime and justice outcomes. The combination of 156 credit points in Law and 96 credit points in Criminology creates an integrated interdisciplinary qualification that connects legal frameworks with an understanding of criminal behaviour and justice systems.
