COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts and Law (Honours) double degree requires the successful completion of 252 credit points, consisting of 156 credit points in the Law component and 96 credit points in the Arts component. The Law component forms the core of the program and provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the Australian legal system, legal principles, professional ethics, legal reasoning, and practical legal skills. Through a combination of compulsory units and elective subjects, students explore areas such as constitutional law, criminal law, contract law, property law, administrative law, and other specialized fields, developing the analytical and advocacy skills required for legal practice and related professions. The Arts component complements legal studies by allowing students to specialize in disciplines such as international relations, human rights, psychology, sociology, history, anthropology, politics, media studies, or languages. These studies enhance students’ critical thinking, communication, cultural awareness, and research capabilities while providing broader social and global perspectives that strengthen their legal understanding. The integrated structure of the degree encourages students to connect legal concepts with social, political, cultural, and ethical issues, preparing them to address complex challenges in diverse professional environments. By completing all 252 credit points, graduates gain both legal expertise and interdisciplinary knowledge, creating a strong foundation for careers in law, government, public policy, international affairs, advocacy, media, business, and the non-profit sector, while also meeting the academic requirements for further legal admission pathways.
