COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Fine Art and Bachelor of Media Communication double degree requires the completion of 192 credit points, combining equal study in studio-based artistic practice and professional media and communication studies. The program is structured into two main components: a 96 credit point Fine Art component and a 96 credit point Media Communication component, allowing students to develop both creative and industry-focused skills. The Fine Art component focuses on experimental studio practice, where students engage with a wide range of artistic media such as painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, printmaking, installation, video art, and emerging digital practices. Through this work, students build technical ability, conceptual thinking, and a professional artistic portfolio supported by studio projects and critical reflection. The Media Communication component develops practical and theoretical skills in contemporary communication industries, including journalism, public relations, media production, screen studies, and digital communication. Students learn how to research, write, produce, and distribute media content across different platforms, while also gaining an understanding of media industries and audiences. By combining these two areas, the degree enables students to merge visual creativity with strong communication and storytelling skills. Graduates are prepared for careers in creative industries, media organisations, publishing, broadcasting, digital content creation, and cultural sectors, as well as hybrid roles that require both artistic practice and professional media expertise.
