COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science double degree requires the completion of 240 credit points, integrating advanced engineering education with specialised pharmaceutical science studies. The Engineering component consists of 144 credit points and provides a strong foundation in mathematics, chemistry, physics, process design, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and chemical engineering principles. Students progressively develop expertise in designing, operating, and optimising large-scale industrial processes, with a focus on safety, efficiency, sustainability, and product quality. This component prepares students to manage complex manufacturing systems used in chemical and pharmaceutical industries. The Pharmaceutical Science component consists of 96 credit points and focuses on the discovery, development, formulation, and evaluation of pharmaceutical products. Students study areas such as medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, drug delivery systems, formulation science, biopharmaceutics, and quality control. This component equips students with the scientific knowledge required to design and test medicines and related products at the laboratory and pre-commercialisation stages. The combination of both components enables students to bridge the gap between laboratory-based pharmaceutical innovation and large-scale industrial production. Upon completion of all 240 credit points, graduates are well prepared for careers in pharmaceutical manufacturing, chemical process engineering, biotechnology, research and development, regulatory affairs, and industrial innovation. The degree also supports further study and specialised careers in both engineering and pharmaceutical sciences, equipping graduates with strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills needed to contribute to healthcare, industry, and scientific advancement.
