COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Biomedical Science double degree requires the completion of 240 credit points, integrating advanced engineering education with in-depth biomedical science studies. The Engineering component comprises 144 credit points and provides a strong foundation in engineering principles, mathematics, physics, design, and systems thinking, followed by specialised study in a chosen engineering discipline such as mechanical, electrical, chemical, civil, or biomedical engineering. Students develop the ability to analyse complex engineering problems, design innovative solutions, and apply technical knowledge in real-world contexts, particularly in healthcare-related technologies. The Biomedical Science component consists of 96 credit points and focuses on understanding the human body and the biological mechanisms that underpin health and disease. Students study areas such as anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, genetics, microbiology, pharmacology, immunology, and neuroscience, gaining a detailed understanding of how living systems function. This scientific knowledge complements engineering training by enabling students to design technologies that directly address medical and biological challenges. The integration of both disciplines equips graduates with a unique interdisciplinary skill set, combining technical engineering capability with biomedical insight. Upon completion of all 240 credit points, graduates are prepared for careers in biomedical engineering, medical device development, healthcare technology innovation, clinical research, pharmaceuticals, and related industries.
