COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Architectural Design double degree requires the completion of 240 credit points, structured to develop both strong technical engineering capability and advanced architectural design expertise. The Engineering component consists of 144 credit points, where students build a comprehensive foundation in civil engineering principles such as structural analysis, construction materials, geotechnics, fluid mechanics, transport systems, and infrastructure design. This component also includes advanced engineering studies that prepare students to design, analyse, and manage large-scale infrastructure projects while considering safety, efficiency, and sustainability. The Architectural Design component consists of 96 credit points and focuses on developing creative, conceptual, and practical design skills through studio-based learning. Students engage in design studios, drawing, modelling, and project-based work that encourages innovative responses to spatial, environmental, and social challenges. This component also develops skills in visual communication, architectural thinking, and design development processes used in professional practice. Together, these two components ensure a balanced education that integrates technical engineering knowledge with creative architectural design thinking. Students learn to address real-world problems such as sustainable urban development, efficient infrastructure systems, and adaptable building design. Upon completion of all 240 credit points, graduates are equipped for careers in civil engineering, architectural technology, construction management, urban planning, infrastructure consultancy, and sustainable development. This double degree also provides a pathway toward architectural registration with further study, enabling graduates to contribute meaningfully to the transformation of the built environment through both engineering precision and architectural creativity.
