COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering (Honours) requires the completion of 192 credit points and is structured to provide students with a strong engineering foundation, interdisciplinary knowledge, and advanced expertise in robotics, automation, and intelligent systems. Part A consists of 30 credit points of Engineering fundamentals and design studies, where students develop core skills in mathematics, physics, programming, engineering mechanics, electronics, and design methodologies. These units establish the analytical and technical foundation necessary for understanding complex engineering systems. Part B includes 18 credit points of Breadth studies, allowing students to explore disciplines outside their engineering specialisation and broaden their communication, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary problem-solving abilities. Parts C, D, and E together comprise 144 credit points of Specialist studies, forming the core of the degree. These units focus on advanced topics such as robotics, mechatronic system design, control engineering, embedded systems, sensors and instrumentation, electronics, automation, artificial intelligence, machine vision, and real-time computing. Students gain extensive practical experience through laboratory activities, design projects, programming tasks, and industry-relevant engineering applications. The program progressively develops both technical expertise and professional skills, including teamwork, project management, research, and technical communication. Upon completion of all 192 credit points, graduates are prepared for careers in robotics, manufacturing automation, medical technologies, aerospace, automotive engineering, telecommunications, defence, and intelligent systems development. The degree equips students with the knowledge and practical skills required to design, build, and manage advanced robotic and automated technologies that drive innovation across modern industries.
