COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Environmental Engineering (Honours) requires the completion of 192 credit points and is structured to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles, sustainability, and environmental problem-solving. Part A consists of 30 credit points of Engineering fundamentals and design studies, which introduce students to core engineering concepts including mathematics, physics, engineering design, systems thinking, and problem-solving methodologies. These foundational studies establish the technical knowledge required for advanced environmental engineering applications. Part B includes 18 credit points of Breadth studies, allowing students to explore disciplines outside their engineering specialisation and develop broader perspectives, communication skills, and interdisciplinary understanding. Parts C, D, and E together comprise 144 credit points of Specialist studies, forming the major component of the degree. These studies focus on advanced environmental engineering topics such as water resources management, wastewater treatment, air pollution control, waste management, environmental impact assessment, sustainable infrastructure, renewable energy systems, and climate change adaptation. Students also participate in laboratory work, field studies, engineering design projects, and practical problem-solving activities that address real environmental challenges. The program progressively develops both technical expertise and professional engineering skills, including teamwork, research, project management, and communication. Upon completion of all 192 credit points, graduates are well prepared for careers in environmental consulting, water and wastewater industries, government agencies, sustainability management, renewable energy, environmental regulation, and research. The degree equips graduates to develop innovative solutions that balance environmental protection, community needs, and sustainable development goals.
