COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering (Honours) requires the completion of 192 credit points, structured to develop a strong foundation in engineering principles, interdisciplinary knowledge, and advanced technical expertise in electrical and computer systems. Part A consists of 30 credit points of Engineering fundamentals and design studies, where students build essential skills in mathematics, physics, programming, circuit analysis, and engineering design thinking. These foundational units provide the analytical and problem-solving capabilities required for more advanced study. Part B includes 18 credit points of Breadth studies, allowing students to explore subjects outside their core discipline, helping to develop communication skills, critical thinking, and a broader understanding of social, environmental, or business contexts relevant to engineering practice. Parts C, D, and E together comprise 144 credit points of Specialist studies, which form the core of the degree and focus on advanced topics in electrical and computer systems engineering. These include areas such as digital systems, electronics, signal processing, control systems, telecommunications, robotics, embedded systems, and power engineering. Students also undertake laboratory work, design projects, and industry-based problem-solving tasks that simulate real engineering challenges. This structured progression ensures students gain both theoretical depth and practical experience. Upon completion of all 192 credit points, graduates are equipped for careers in power systems, automation, robotics, telecommunications, computing industries, and emerging technologies, with strong opportunities in both national and global engineering sectors.
