COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering (Honours) requires the completion of 192 credit points, structured to provide students with a strong foundation in engineering principles, broad supporting knowledge, and advanced specialist aerospace expertise. Part A consists of 30 credit points of Engineering fundamentals and design studies, which introduce core engineering concepts such as mechanics, materials, mathematics, and design thinking, providing the essential base for aerospace problem-solving. Part B includes 18 credit points of Breadth studies, allowing students to explore complementary disciplines outside their core engineering focus, helping to develop well-rounded analytical, communication, and interdisciplinary skills. Parts C, D, and E together comprise 144 credit points of Specialist studies, which form the major focus of the degree. These units cover advanced aerospace topics such as aerodynamics, propulsion systems, flight mechanics, avionics, structural analysis, computational modelling, and aerospace materials. Students also engage in design projects and applied engineering tasks that simulate real-world aerospace challenges, building technical expertise and problem-solving ability. The structured progression from foundational knowledge to highly specialised study ensures students are well prepared for complex engineering environments. Throughout the program, students also develop professional skills such as teamwork, project management, critical thinking, and technical communication. Upon completion of all 192 credit points, graduates are equipped for careers in aerospace design, manufacturing, research and development, airworthiness operations, and related engineering industries. The degree also provides pathways into broader sectors such as automotive engineering, advanced manufacturing, defence technology, and technical consulting, reflecting the versatility of aerospace engineering skills.
