COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Education (Honours) double degree requires the completion of 204 credit points, combining a strong professional education foundation with specialised study in Fine Art. The Education component consists of 108 credit points and is designed to develop the knowledge, skills, and professional capabilities required to become an effective teacher. This includes core studies in educational theory, child and adolescent development, pedagogy, curriculum design, assessment practices, inclusive education, and classroom management. Students also complete curriculum and teaching method units that prepare them to deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate learning experiences across different school contexts. The Fine Art component consists of 96 credit points and provides intensive studio-based learning in a range of artistic disciplines such as painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, installation, and digital and experimental media practices. This allows students to develop both technical proficiency and creative expression while building a strong artistic portfolio. Together, these components integrate professional teaching preparation with advanced creative practice, enabling graduates to bring artistic insight into educational environments. The program also includes supervised professional experience placements in schools, where students apply their learning in real classroom settings and develop practical teaching skills, confidence, and reflective practice. Upon completion of all 204 credit points, graduates are well prepared for careers as primary or secondary teachers with specialisation in visual arts, as well as broader roles in arts education, cultural institutions, community programs, and creative industries. This qualification ensures graduates meet professional teaching registration requirements and are equipped for diverse career pathways.
