COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Primary Education requires the completion of 204 credit points, structured to ensure students develop strong foundational knowledge, teaching expertise, and extensive classroom experience. The Primary Education single degree pathway is organised into five parts. Part A consists of 42 credit points of Core studies, which provide essential grounding in education theory, child development, psychology, and the social and cultural contexts that influence learning. Part B includes 66 credit points of Education studies, focusing on pedagogy, curriculum design, assessment strategies, inclusive education, and classroom management to prepare students for effective teaching practice. Parts C and D comprise 96 credit points of Integrated Curriculum and Discipline Studies, where students develop the skills needed to teach across key primary curriculum areas including English, mathematics, science, humanities, arts, digital technologies, and health and physical education, integrating subject knowledge with practical teaching approaches. Part E consists of Professional experience, which involves at least 80 days of supervised placements in primary school settings. These placements allow students to apply theoretical learning in real classrooms, develop confidence in lesson planning and delivery, and refine their ability to engage and support diverse learners. Throughout the course, students build essential skills such as communication, critical thinking, organisation, and adaptability. Upon completion of all 204 credit points, graduates are eligible for teacher registration and prepared for rewarding careers as primary educators across a range of school and community settings.
