COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Primary and Secondary Inclusive and Special Education requires the completion of 204 credit points, structured to develop strong foundational knowledge, specialised teaching skills, and extensive practical experience. Part A consists of 36 credit points of Core studies, which provide essential grounding in education theory, child and adolescent development, and the social, cultural, and ethical contexts of teaching. Part B includes 24 credit points of Education studies, focusing on key pedagogical principles, inclusive teaching strategies, classroom management, and professional practice frameworks that support diverse learners. Part C comprises 72 credit points of Curriculum studies, where students develop the ability to teach across major learning areas such as English, mathematics, science, humanities, arts, digital technologies, and health and physical education, with a strong emphasis on adapting curriculum for inclusive education settings. Part D includes 72 credit points of Discipline studies, which provide in-depth knowledge in a chosen specialist teaching area such as science, mathematics, humanities, arts, business, or digital technologies, enabling students to become subject specialists at the secondary level. Part E consists of Professional experience, involving extensive supervised teaching placements in both mainstream and special education environments. These placements allow students to apply theoretical knowledge in real classrooms, develop inclusive teaching practices, and build confidence in supporting students with diverse learning needs. Throughout the degree, students develop key skills including communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and adaptability. Upon completion of all 204 credit points, graduates are eligible for teacher registration and prepared for careers in inclusive and special education across primary and secondary settings.
