COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Primary and Secondary Health and Physical Education requires the completion of 204 credit points, structured to ensure students develop strong educational knowledge, subject expertise, and extensive practical teaching experience. Part A consists of 42 credit points of Core studies, which provide foundational understanding of education theory, child and adolescent development, and the social and cultural contexts of learning. Part B includes 12 credit points of Education studies, focusing on essential pedagogical knowledge, teaching strategies, and professional practice frameworks. Part C comprises 96 credit points of Curriculum studies, where students develop the skills needed to teach key learning areas across primary and secondary education, including English, mathematics, science, humanities, digital technologies, arts, and health and physical education, with a strong emphasis on curriculum design and instructional practice. Part D includes 54 credit points of Discipline studies, which provide in-depth knowledge in health and physical education, including sport science, biomechanics, health promotion, movement skill development, and coaching principles. Part E consists of Professional experience, involving extensive supervised teaching placements in primary and secondary school settings. These placements allow students to apply theoretical knowledge in real classrooms, develop confidence in teaching, and refine their skills in planning, delivering, and evaluating lessons. Throughout the course, students build key competencies such as communication, leadership, critical thinking, and adaptability. Upon completion of all 204 credit points, graduates are well prepared for teacher registration and careers in primary and secondary education with a focus on health and physical education.
