COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Primary and Secondary Education requires the completion of 204 credit points, structured to develop strong theoretical knowledge, subject expertise, and extensive professional teaching experience. Part A consists of 42 credit points of Core studies, which provide foundational understanding in education theory, child and adolescent development, psychology, and the social and cultural contexts of learning. Part B includes 48 credit points of Education studies, where students develop professional knowledge in pedagogy, assessment, curriculum design, inclusive education, and classroom management strategies for diverse learners. Part C comprises 72 credit points of Curriculum studies, focusing on the methods and approaches required to teach key learning areas such as English, mathematics, science, humanities, arts, digital technologies, and health and physical education across primary and secondary levels. Part D includes 36 credit points of Discipline studies, where students specialise in a chosen subject area such as science, mathematics, arts, business, humanities, or digital technologies, building depth of content knowledge for secondary teaching. Part E consists of Professional experience, which provides significant supervised teaching placements in primary and secondary schools. These placements allow students to apply theory in real classrooms, develop practical teaching skills, and gain confidence in lesson planning, delivery, and student engagement. Throughout the program, students develop essential skills including communication, critical thinking, adaptability, and reflective practice. Upon completion of all 204 credit points, graduates are well prepared for teacher registration and careers in both primary and secondary education settings.
