COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Early Childhood and Primary Education requires the completion of 204 credit points, structured to ensure students develop both strong theoretical knowledge and extensive practical teaching experience. Part A consists of 42 credit points of Core studies, which provide foundational knowledge in education theory, child development, psychology, and the social and cultural contexts of learning. Part B includes 66 credit points of Education studies, where students build professional knowledge in teaching practice, curriculum design, inclusive education, assessment strategies, and classroom management, preparing them for effective teaching in diverse learning environments. Parts C and D comprise 96 credit points of Integrated Curriculum and Discipline Studies, allowing students to develop subject-specific expertise across key learning areas such as English, mathematics, science, humanities, arts, digital technologies, health, and physical education. This integrated structure ensures students can confidently teach across the early childhood and primary curriculum. Part E focuses on Professional Experience, which is a vital component of the degree and involves extensive placements in early childhood centres, kindergartens, preschools, and primary schools. Through these placements, students apply theoretical learning in real classroom settings, develop practical teaching skills, and gain confidence in engaging with children and educators. The program builds essential skills including communication, critical thinking, planning, and adaptability. Upon completion of all 204 credit points, graduates are well prepared for teacher registration and careers in early childhood and primary education across a range of professional settings.
