COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Design and Bachelor of Fine Art double degree requires the completion of 192 credit points, structured to provide a balanced combination of theoretical knowledge, studio practice, and elective flexibility. The course includes 30 credit points of Common units, which establish a shared foundation in core creative principles and interdisciplinary thinking across both design and fine art disciplines. In addition, students complete 18 credit points in Critical contexts, which focus on developing an understanding of cultural, historical, and theoretical frameworks that inform contemporary creative practice. The largest component of the program is 126 credit points of Studio practices, where students engage in hands-on, experiential learning within dedicated art and design studios. These units allow students to develop technical skills, creative experimentation, conceptual thinking, and professional practice across both fine art and design specialisations. Students also complete 18 credit points of Electives, enabling them to tailor their studies according to their interests, whether by deepening expertise in a particular creative area or exploring complementary disciplines. Together, these components create an interdisciplinary program that integrates practical studio work with critical and contextual learning. Throughout the degree, students develop essential transferable skills including creativity, communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, research, and collaboration. Upon completion of all 192 credit points, graduates are awarded both a Bachelor of Design and a Bachelor of Fine Art, equipping them for diverse creative careers in design industries, fine art practice, cultural institutions, and emerging interdisciplinary creative fields.
