COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Global Studies is a four-year double degree program at Monash University comprising a total of 192 credit points, with 96 credit points allocated to the Arts component and 96 credit points allocated to the Global Studies component. The Arts component offers students access to more than 30 areas of study, including history, psychology, sociology, philosophy, communications, languages, and related humanities disciplines. Through these subjects, students develop strong skills in critical thinking, communication, cultural awareness, empathy, and interdisciplinary analysis, enabling them to understand complex social, political, and cultural issues in both local and global contexts. The Global Studies component focuses on analysing major global challenges such as inequality, sustainability, development, governance, and international relations. Students learn to critically evaluate global systems, understand cross-cultural interactions, and develop innovative, evidence-based approaches to solving international problems. The structure of the program encourages students to integrate knowledge from both disciplines, fostering a broad and interconnected understanding of the world. Throughout the degree, students engage in learning experiences that enhance their global outlook and practical understanding of international issues. By combining Arts with Global Studies, graduates gain a strong foundation in research, analysis, communication, and problem-solving, preparing them for careers in international organisations, policy and diplomacy, development agencies, education, media, research, and other fields requiring a deep understanding of global society and cross-cultural engagement.
