COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Criminology is a four-year double degree program comprising a total of 192 credit points, with 96 credit points allocated to the Arts component and 96 credit points allocated to the Criminology component. The Arts component provides students with the flexibility to explore a wide range of disciplines, including psychology, sociology, anthropology, languages, journalism, philosophy, gender studies, and behavioural studies. Through these areas of study, students develop advanced knowledge of human societies, cultures, communication, and social structures while strengthening their research, analytical, and critical-thinking abilities. The Criminology component focuses on the study of crime, justice, victimisation, social control, and inequality. Students examine the causes and consequences of crime, explore criminal behaviour at individual and societal levels, and gain an understanding of the institutions and policies that shape criminal justice systems, including policing, courts, and corrections. The balanced structure of the degree encourages students to integrate perspectives from both disciplines, enabling them to analyse complex social issues and develop evidence-based responses to contemporary challenges. Throughout the program, students build strong skills in research, communication, policy analysis, and problem-solving. By combining humanities and criminology, the degree prepares graduates for a wide range of careers in criminal justice, public policy, community services, research, advocacy, journalism, international development, and other fields that require a deep understanding of society and social change.
