COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Translation and Interpreting Studies (Advanced) develops highly skilled bilingual professionals capable of operating in complex multilingual environments where accuracy, cultural sensitivity and communication are essential. The program combines theoretical knowledge with extensive practical training in both translation and interpreting, enabling students to work confidently across languages and cultures. In the foundation component, students build essential competencies through units in translation studies, interpreting practice, audiovisual translation, applied translation, and language technology, alongside training in general and intermediate interpreting. These units establish strong core skills in meaning transfer, cultural adaptation and professional language use. The core component then advances these capabilities through specialised and professional-level study, including research methods in language studies, professional practice in translation and interpreting, specialised translation and interpreting, transcreation and localisation, and advanced practice in both disciplines. Students also complete a research project that allows them to critically investigate a topic within translation or interpreting studies, strengthening analytical and academic skills. This structure ensures graduates gain both practical industry readiness and theoretical depth, preparing them for high-level roles in translation agencies, international organisations, government services and global businesses where precise multilingual communication and intercultural competence are essential.
