COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Information Technology (Information Systems specialisation) is designed to equip students from non-IT backgrounds with the technical, analytical, and managerial skills needed to design, implement, and manage complex information systems in modern organisations. The program begins with an 80-credit-point Foundation Zone that builds essential knowledge in core IT areas, including computer programming, database design and management, IT systems and project management, networking and cloud computing, systems analysis and design, and introductory cybersecurity. Students also undertake introductory elective streams in Information Systems, Cyber Security, or Applied Artificial Intelligence, allowing early exposure to specialised career pathways. The Core Zone, worth 80 credit points, develops professional capabilities through units such as Information Systems Project and Risk Management, IT Professional Practice, and a Major Project that integrates theoretical learning with practical application. The Information Systems specialisation (40 credit points) focuses on advanced topics including Information Systems Design and Management, Enterprise Application Integration, and Management of Data, Analytics and Change. These units develop expertise in aligning technology solutions with organisational strategy and managing digital transformation initiatives. Students also complete electives such as Digital Innovation or Enterprise Management to broaden their skill set. Overall, the program prepares graduates for careers in business analysis, systems design, IT consulting, and digital transformation across a wide range of industries.
