COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Information Technology (Applied Artificial Intelligence specialisation) is designed to equip students from non-IT backgrounds with strong foundational and advanced skills in computing, data systems, and artificial intelligence. The program begins with an 80-credit-point Foundation Zone that builds core competencies in areas such as computer programming, database design, IT systems management, networking and cloud computing, systems analysis, and cybersecurity. Students also choose introductory specialisation electives, including Information Systems, Cyber Security, or Applied Artificial Intelligence, which provide early exposure to focused technical areas. The Core Zone, worth 80 credit points, strengthens professional and applied skills through units such as Information Systems Project and Risk Management, IT Professional Practice, and a Major Project, enabling students to integrate theory with real-world application. The Applied Artificial Intelligence specialisation (40 credit points) develops advanced expertise in AI-related fields, including Rights, Responsibilities and AI, Automated Decision Making in Business, Deep Learning and AI for Vision Applications, and Artificial Intelligence for Natural Language Processing Applications. These subjects combine technical depth with ethical and practical considerations, ensuring graduates understand both the capabilities and societal implications of AI systems.
