COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Data Science is a structured and interdisciplinary program designed to equip students with strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills required to work with complex and large-scale data in modern industries. The program begins with an 80-credit-point Foundation Zone that builds essential knowledge for students from non-computing backgrounds. This stage includes core units such as Foundations of Computer Programming, Data Science, Big Data, Database Systems, Management of IT Systems and Projects, Statistical Technologies for Data Science, Statistical Methods for Data Science, and Statistical Inference for Data Science. These units develop a strong grounding in programming, statistics, and data management principles. The Core Zone, also worth 80 credit points, advances students’ expertise through specialised subjects including Big Data Technologies, Mining Unstructured Data, Applications of Data Science, Information Systems Project and Risk Management, Statistical and Machine Learning Methods, Bayesian Data Analysis, and a Major Project. This stage focuses on advanced analytical techniques, machine learning, and real-world data applications. Through a combination of theoretical learning and practical projects, students gain the ability to extract insights from complex datasets, build predictive models, and solve industry problems. Overall, the program prepares graduates for careers in data science, analytics, machine learning, and data-driven decision-making across sectors such as technology, finance, healthcare, and government.
