COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Criminology and Master of Intelligence double degree combines advanced study of crime, justice and security with professional intelligence training, preparing graduates for analytical and strategic roles across government, law enforcement and policy organisations. The criminology core develops a strong understanding of global crime and justice systems, with focused study on surveillance, technology and policing, incarceration and punishment, and the social dimensions of crime through lenses such as inequality and power. Students also engage with advanced criminological theory and crime prevention strategies, building the ability to critically evaluate justice systems and propose evidence-based reforms. The intelligence core complements this by providing comprehensive training in the history, ethics and practice of intelligence work. Students develop strong analytical capabilities through units in intelligence analysis, open-source intelligence and intelligence-based decision-making, while also gaining insight into leadership, oversight and the application of intelligence in real-world contexts. Practical learning is embedded through applied intelligence practice and management-focused units, ensuring students can operate effectively in structured and high-pressure environments. Together, the two disciplines create a multidisciplinary skill set that integrates critical thinking, ethical reasoning and applied analytical techniques, enabling graduates to assess complex security challenges, understand criminal behaviour in broader social contexts and contribute effectively to intelligence-led policy and operational decision-making.
