COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Commerce (MCom) with a specialisation in Finance is structured to provide students with a comprehensive blend of foundational business knowledge, core commercial competencies, and advanced financial expertise. The program begins with a 40-credit-point Foundation Zone designed for students transitioning from different academic backgrounds. This stage offers elective units such as Principles of Accounting, Principles of Finance, Economics for Professionals, Introduction to Marketing Management, Work, Organisation and Management, and Introduction to Inference, Modelling and Forecasting, helping students build a strong base in essential business disciplines. The Core Zone, worth 80 credit points, strengthens analytical and managerial capabilities through essential units including Business Ethics and Sustainability, Management of Data, Analytics and Change, and Contemporary Business Issues. Students also select electives such as Managerial Accounting for Decision Making, Corporate Finance, Business Analytics Techniques, Marketing Theory and Practice, Globalisation and Supply Chain Management, or a Business Internship for practical industry exposure. The 40-credit-point Finance Specialisation develops advanced expertise in key financial areas through core units including Investments, Capital Markets, Business Valuation, and Financial Modelling and Forecasting. Together, these subjects equip students with the ability to analyse financial markets, evaluate investment opportunities, and apply quantitative methods to real-world financial problems.
