COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Clinical Neuropsychology core program is designed to develop advanced clinical expertise in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of cognitive and behavioural disorders associated with brain dysfunction. The curriculum integrates foundational psychological training with specialised neuropsychology content to ensure graduates are well prepared for complex clinical practice. Students begin with core units in counselling, psychological assessment, cognitive behavioural therapy, and professional practice, alongside research training in psychological methods. These foundational areas are complemented by applied clinical placements that build professional competence through supervised experience. The neuropsychology stream focuses on understanding brain-behaviour relationships through subjects such as clinical neuroanatomy and neuropsychological disorders, advanced neuropsychological assessment, and intervention and rehabilitation strategies. Students develop skills in evaluating cognitive impairment, designing evidence-based treatment plans, and supporting individuals with neurological conditions across diverse populations. Additional training in working with children, families, and varied clinical presentations ensures broad competency across the lifespan. Extensive placement units provide hands-on clinical experience in real healthcare environments, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge under supervision while developing professional judgement and ethical practice. Research training is also embedded to support evidence-based decision-making. Overall, the program prepares graduates for specialist roles in hospitals, rehabilitation services, and private practice, equipping them to work effectively with individuals affected by neurological and psychological disorders.
