COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Biotechnology is a comprehensive program designed to provide students with strong foundational knowledge and advanced expertise in molecular sciences, preparing them to address global challenges in health, agriculture, and environmental sustainability. The program begins with an 80-credit-point Foundation Zone, which establishes core scientific understanding through essential units such as Macromolecules, Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Advanced Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Microbiology and Molecular Biology, Analysis and Measurement, Molecular Biology and Genomics, Genetics, and Introductory Statistics. These subjects build a solid base in biological systems, chemical analysis, genetics, and quantitative methods. The Core Zone, also worth 80 credit points, develops specialised knowledge in modern biotechnology through units including Bioethics and Biotechnology, Protein Discovery and Analysis, Proteomics Technologies and Applications, Molecular Genomics Analysis and Design, Molecular and Medical Biotechnology, Statistical Methods in Bioinformatics, and Biotechnology Management: Quality, Strategy and Innovation. These units combine scientific theory with practical applications in cutting-edge biotechnology fields. Students also complete an elective research component such as Biotechnology Research Experience or Advanced Biotechnology Research Experience, allowing hands-on engagement with real-world scientific investigation.
